Deep, deep, into the earth

Watch the video we made for Sandvik Rock Tools

Some recent work we did for global mining supply giant Sandvik. For this project we had to go deep into the earth to film huge autonomous loader vehicles that save lives and make the mine far more productive.

Watch the film to see as we descend over 500 meters into the earths core to film some of the most advanced mining equipment in the world. These loaders run 24/7 and are 95% autonomous, with drivers completing only 5% of the vehicle's journey. They say that within the next 2 years, the vehicles will be completely autonomous and that means that far fewer people will have to risk their lives going underground.

These machines can carry over 11 tons of ore in a single load and most of them are completely electric. In some of the shots, you can even see the giant cable running behind the vehicle. Making them electric of course, means they are far more efficient and environmentally friendly. The plan is to phase out all the diesel loaders as their service life comes to an end.

We'd love to hear what you think about it in the comments below.
